Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Monday postponed the hearing of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) challenging the denial of treatment to patients at Osmania General Hospital for failing to produce an Aadhaar card.

The two-judge bench, comprising Acting Chief Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice Renuka Yara, heard the petition filed by advocate Srinivas Byreddy, who argued that the hospital’s insistence on an Aadhaar card for treatment was unauthorized and unlawful.

However, the government pleader, representing the State government, denied the allegations, claiming that adequate treatment was being provided to patients.

The court directed the government pleader to submit relevant records within two days and adjourned the case to February 28 for the next hearing.
