New ESIC facility in Knowledge Park to expand medical access; large-scale health camps benefit over 40,000 workers across Gautam Buddh Nagar

In a major push towards strengthening healthcare infrastructure for industrial workers, Yogi Adityanath has handed over the land allotment letter for a proposed 300-bed ESIC hospital in Greater Noida. The land has been allocated by Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority in the Knowledge Park area.

The announcement was made during the state-level ‘Shramveer Samman Samaroh 2026’ held in Lucknow, marking International Workers’ Day with a significant welfare initiative.

Expansion of ESIC Healthcare Network in Greater Noida

Currently, Gautam Buddh Nagar has one operational ESIC facility — the 350-bed ESIC Model Hospital and Medical College in Sector 24, which provides 24×7 emergency services along with specialized care in cardiology, neurology, and nephrology. The upcoming hospital is expected to significantly enhance healthcare capacity in the region, especially for industrial workers.

District Magistrate Medha Rupam stated that the new hospital will be funded by the Central Government under the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation scheme and will offer comprehensive healthcare services to workers employed in Greater Noida and nearby industrial zones.

ESIC Scheme: Social Security for Workers

The ESIC scheme provides a range of social security benefits, including medical treatment, maternity support, disability compensation, and cash benefits. It covers employees earning up to ₹21,000 per month (₹25,000 for persons with disabilities) and applies to establishments employing at least 10 workers. Contributions to the scheme are jointly made by employers and employees.

Massive Health Outreach Across the District

Alongside the hospital announcement, a district-wide health campaign was conducted, reaching over 40,000 workers through 201 medical camps. These camps offered free consultations, health check-ups, medicines, and awareness about welfare schemes.

Out of the total camps, 134 were organized by government healthcare facilities, while 67 were conducted by private hospitals such as Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital, Max Healthcare, Medanta, Fortis Healthcare, Felix Hospital, and Sharda Hospital.

Additional Healthcare Facilities Announced

To further strengthen the healthcare ecosystem, authorities announced supplementary resources including 25 mobile health vans, four Advanced Life Support ambulances, 10 blood analyzers, and 43 crèches to support workers’ families.

Under the Ayushman Bharat initiative, five new hospitals have been empanelled, raising the total number of such facilities in the district to 87. This includes the recently inaugurated KDSG Hospital in Greater Noida West.

The development signals a strong commitment by the state government to improve healthcare accessibility and social security coverage for the industrial workforce in one of Uttar Pradesh’s fastest-growing regions.
