Acquisition worth ₹30 crore to strengthen cancer care services and boost operational synergy in Madhya Pradesh
Indore: Global Health Limited, which operates under the brand Medanta, has announced plans to take over an 80-bedded cancer hospital in Indore through a Business Transfer Agreement (BTA), marking a significant expansion of its oncology services in Central India.
Strategic Expansion to Strengthen Oncology Care
The upcoming acquisition will enhance Medanta’s presence in the region by complementing its existing 175-bed multi-speciality hospital in Indore. The newly-built cancer care facility is strategically located just 500 meters away from the current Medanta hospital, enabling seamless integration of services.
With this move, Medanta aims to introduce a comprehensive oncology program—addressing a critical gap in its specialty offerings in the city.
₹30 Crore Deal Under Business Transfer Agreement
Under the agreement, Asian Institute of Oncology Private Limited will transfer its Indore business undertaking (AIOPL Indore) to Medanta as a going concern. The total transaction value stands at ₹30 crore, which includes the assignment of a long-term lease associated with the hospital.
Boost to Patient Care and Operational Efficiency
The integration of the cancer hospital with Medanta’s existing facility is expected to deliver multiple benefits, including improved patient access, optimized capacity utilization, and enhanced patient flow across both units.
The addition of advanced oncology infrastructure will further strengthen Medanta’s capability to provide specialized, high-quality cancer treatment in the region.
Leadership Perspective
Commenting on the development, Pankaj Sahni, Group CEO of Medanta, stated that the acquisition represents a natural extension of the hospital’s presence in Indore.
He emphasized that the addition of a dedicated cancer care facility will not only fill a crucial specialty gap but also reinforce Medanta’s commitment to delivering patient-centric, advanced healthcare services.
Continued Expansion Across India
This development follows Medanta’s broader expansion strategy. The company had earlier announced plans to establish a 400-bed multi-speciality hospital in Varanasi, further strengthening its footprint in North India.
With consistent investments in infrastructure and specialty care, Medanta continues to position itself as a leading provider of tertiary healthcare services across key regions in India.
