Advanced Centre for Pediatric ENT Care Aims to Transform Early Diagnosis and Treatment of Complex ENT Conditions in Children
Chennai: Rainbow Children’s Hospital has launched the Advanced Centre for Pediatric ENT Care (ACENT), a specialised facility dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of hearing, airway, and sleep-related disorders in children. The centre brings together pediatric ENT specialists, advanced medical technology, and comprehensive care services to address complex Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) conditions in newborns, children, and adolescents.
According to the hospital, several pediatric conditions, including hearing loss, respiratory tract abnormalities, recurrent ear infections, and sleep-related breathing difficulties, often remain undetected during the early stages. These disorders can significantly impact a child’s speech development, learning abilities, physical growth, and overall well-being. ACENT has been established to bridge this critical gap in pediatric healthcare.
Chennai’s First Dedicated Pediatric ENT Centre
The centre was inaugurated in the presence of renowned playback singer Saindhavi and Suresh Kumar M., Senior Consultant and Coordinator of the ENT Department at KIMSHEALTH, Thiruvananthapuram. Facility Director Gunasekhar C. and Pediatric ENT Consultant Nithya R. were also present during the launch event.
With its inauguration, ACENT has become Chennai’s first specialised centre focused exclusively on screening, treatment, and long-term management of hearing, airway, and sleep disorders in children.
Advanced Technology Enables Early Diagnosis
A key highlight of the facility is the introduction of an ultra-thin 1.2 mm pediatric endoscope, making ACENT the first centre in Chennai to use the technology for airway assessment in newborns and young children without requiring anaesthesia.
The advanced diagnostic tool allows doctors to safely examine even the smallest airways in an outpatient setting, facilitating early detection and timely intervention for complex pediatric ENT conditions while minimizing discomfort for young patients.
Focus on Comprehensive Pediatric ENT Care
Speaking on the occasion, Gunasekhar C., Facility Director, Rainbow Children’s Hospital, Chennai, said that the launch of ACENT reflects the hospital’s commitment to delivering specialised pediatric healthcare through advanced technology and multidisciplinary expertise.
He stated that the centre has been designed to provide end-to-end ENT care for children under one roof, covering diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and rehabilitation while addressing the unique healthcare needs of children and their families.
The hospital believes that the specialised centre will strengthen pediatric ENT services in Chennai by ensuring early diagnosis, personalised treatment, and long-term follow-up care for children affected by hearing, airway, and sleep-related disorders.
