Nashik: In response to a violent clash at Nashik Civil Hospital, civil surgeon Dr. Charudatta Shinde on Monday announced plans to request additional security from the government to safeguard hospital staff and patients.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening when two groups, who had earlier fought in the Bhadrakali police station area, continued their altercation inside the hospital’s casualty department. During the brawl, a nurse suffered blunt trauma, further raising concerns over hospital security.
“Such incidents cause chaos and panic among staff and patients. We will follow up with the government for additional security personnel to ensure a safe environment,” Dr. Shinde said.
Hospital staff raised an alarm, prompting a swift police response, which helped restore order.
Medical professionals emphasized that attacks on healthcare workers are a serious offense, and such clashes harm the reputation of government hospitals that provide essential services to the public.
Dr. Shinde noted that similar incidents have been happening frequently, and repeated requests for security reinforcements have been made. He stressed the need for more security personnel and police presence to allow medical staff to work without fear.
