Kodaikanal, June 7, 2025 — In a tragic incident, a young doctor pursuing his postgraduate medical studies was found dead inside his car in a remote forested area near Poomparai, close to the popular hill station of Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu. Authorities suspect suicide, though investigations are still ongoing.
The deceased, identified as Dr Joshua Samraj, was pursuing an MD (Doctor of Medicine) in Salem and working at a hospital in Madurai.
Car Found After Three Days in Remote Location
Local residents alerted the police after spotting a car parked unmoved for three days in a secluded wooded stretch. Upon arrival, police discovered Dr Samraj’s body inside the vehicle.
A suicide note was recovered from the scene. In the note, Dr Samraj apologised to his family but did not mention any specific reason or accuse anyone.
Debt and Personal Struggles Under Scrutiny
According to police sources, the doctor was reportedly struggling with debt, and his family indicated he had been emotionally affected by a relationship issue. However, the exact nature of his financial difficulties is yet to be confirmed.
There was speculation on social media that the doctor might have lost money to online gaming, but police have clarified:
“There is no mention of online gaming in the suicide note, nor have his parents confirmed any such connection. We are still investigating the cause of debt,” said an investigating officer.
Possible Self-Administration of IV Fluids
Initial forensic observations suggest Dr Samraj may have administered intravenous fluids to himself before his death. However, the exact cause of death will be determined by a post-mortem examination, which is underway.
A case has been registered and further investigation is being carried out.
