Union Minister Prataprao Jadhav Chairs the Session
The Parliamentary Consultative Committee meeting of the Ministry of Ayush was held in New Delhi under the chairmanship of Union Minister of State (I/C) Shri Prataprao Jadhav. Members of Parliament from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha representing different political parties participated in the session.
First-Ever Dedicated Committee for Ayush
Highlighting the significance of the occasion, Shri Jadhav noted that this is the first time since the Ministry of Ayush became independent in 2014 that a dedicated Parliamentary Consultative Committee has been formed. He said this platform will ensure focused discussions, policy strengthening, and wider outreach of Ayush systems in India and globally.
Growth and Global Recognition of Ayush
The Minister underlined that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Ayush has witnessed rapid growth. With Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and the National Ayush Mission, services are reaching millions. He also set the vision of Ayush moving towards a $200 billion industry target.
He further highlighted the success of International Day of Yoga 2025 in Visakhapatnam, where over 3 lakh participants joined under the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”
Suggestions from MPs
- Shri Purshottam Rupala: Suggested boosting awareness through posters, banners, and IEC campaigns, while recognizing contributions of grassroots Vaidyas.
- Shri Laxmikant Bajpayee: Stressed Ayurveda’s role during COVID-19 and proposed more Ayush Wellness Centres.
- Dr Swami Sachidanand Hari Sakshi: Expressed solidarity with Ayush expansion and promotion.
- Shri Krishna Prasad Tenneti: Said a Viksit Bharat depends on AYUSH growth and urged efforts to dispel myths.
- Smt Jyotsna Charandas Mahant: Recommended documenting traditional healing practices of Korba tribes in Chhattisgarh.
Minister Acknowledges Contributions
Concluding the meeting, Shri Jadhav welcomed all suggestions, stating that the active participation and insights of MPs will help strengthen Ayush systems and advance India’s leadership in traditional medicine on the global stage.
