Incident Reported from Nadapuram Hospital
A 25-year-old Ayurveda doctor was arrested in Kozhikode district, Kerala, for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl at a private Ayurvedic hospital in Nadapuram.
Identity of the Accused
The accused, a resident of Madathil House in Mahe, was employed at the hospital located on the Nadapuram-Thalassery Road.
Survivor’s Complaint
According to reports, the girl had been visiting the hospital multiple times with her mother for treatment. The complaint alleges that the doctor took advantage of these visits and assaulted the girl during her July appointment.
Police Action
The girl’s statement was recorded recently, following which the accused was arrested. The case is being investigated under relevant sections of the POCSO Act, and further updates are awaited.
Similar Incidents in Kerala
This case adds to a series of disturbing incidents involving medical professionals in Kerala. Recently, a 61-year-old retired doctor was arrested in Kasaragod under POCSO charges for molesting a minor during a counselling session at his residence in December 2023. He was remanded to 14 days of judicial custody by the Hosdurg Magistrate Court.
