Accident Leads to Three Deaths

A head-on collision between two motorcycles near a petrol pump in Purnia on Saturday afternoon left three men critically injured. Police rushed them to Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH), where two were declared “brought dead,” and the third died during treatment, according to hospital officials.

Dramatic Turn During Postmortem

Chaos broke out when, during the postmortem process, one of the deceased allegedly showed signs of posthumous bleeding. A relative mistook this as a sign of life and rushed the body back to the emergency ward, demanding doctors resume treatment. Despite reassessment, doctors again declared the patient dead.

Viral Video and Political Outcry

A video of the commotion circulated widely on social media, shared even by the RJD’s official X handle. The Opposition slammed the Nitish Kumar–BJP government, calling the incident proof of Bihar’s “collapsed healthcare system” causing daily suffering to citizens.

Hospital’s Clarification

Hospital authorities denied negligence, stating that “all protocols, from trauma management to ECG-confirmed death checks, were followed.” They added that relatives had misinterpreted postmortem bleeding as a sign of revival, which triggered the confrontation.

Heavy Police Deployment

As the situation escalated, additional police forces from multiple stations were deployed to GMCH. After extended discussions and explanations, the agitated crowd eventually dispersed.
