Two Infants Sold for Lakhs of Rupees
Nalgonda: In a shocking revelation, Nalgonda district police rescued two newborns — a 10-day-old girl and a 21-day-old boy — who were allegedly sold for money in two separate illegal adoption cases. Police have arrested seven people, including a doctor, in connection with the racket.

Doctor and Brokers Among Accused
According to reports, the arrested doctor acted as a broker in the first case, facilitating the sale of a baby girl to a couple for Rs 2.3 lakh. Another broker in a separate case reportedly took Rs 4.5 lakh for arranging the sale of a baby boy to another couple.

Complaint Leads to Police Action
The racket came to light when ICDS Supervisor Saraswathi filed a complaint on October 27. Acting on the tip-off, the police formed three special teams to track down the parents, buyers, and middlemen involved in the illegal trade.

Evidence Seized During Investigation
During the probe, authorities seized Rs 20,000 in cash, seven mobile phones, and an adoption agreement from the accused. Police said the seized documents clearly established the network facilitating illegal adoptions for profit.

Details of the First Case
In the first incident, a man working at a mutton shop decided to sell his newborn daughter after his wife gave birth to a girl. He contacted a doctor, who allegedly arranged the adoption for Rs 2.3 lakh. Upon arrest, the doctor confessed to mediating between the biological father and the adopting couple.

Second Case: Boy Sold for Rs 4.5 Lakh
In the second case, a couple who had recently returned from Odisha allegedly sold their baby boy for Rs 4.5 lakh through broker Orsu Sreenu. The illegal exchange took place near Nalgonda hospital, police said.

Infants Shifted to Child Care Centre
Both rescued infants have been handed over to Shishu Gruha, a government-run child care centre, for protection and medical attention.

Accused in Judicial Custody
All seven arrested accused have been sent to judicial custody, while police continue efforts to trace the absconding parents involved in the racket. Authorities said further investigation is underway to determine whether the group had links to a larger child trafficking network.
