BPharmacy Graduate Caught Treating Patients Without License; Clinic Linked to Pharmacy Owner for Profiteering

Hyderabad: A man impersonating a doctor was arrested by Jubilee Hills police for operating an unauthorized clinic in Yousufguda, endangering the lives of unsuspecting patients. The accused, a BPharmacy graduate with no medical license, was found actively treating patients while falsely presenting himself as a qualified medical practitioner.

Acting on a credible tip-off, police raided the premises of SVA Sri Medicare First Aid and Health Care in Sri Krishna Nagar and apprehended the fake doctor red-handed during a patient consultation. Under questioning, he admitted to running the clinic solely for financial gain, without any legal authorization.

Further investigation revealed his partnership with the owner of Sai Nitya Pharmacy, who allegedly supplied medicines and aided in prescribing drugs in exchange for profits.

During the raid, police seized a range of medical equipment and supplies, including a stethoscope, BP apparatus, surgical tools, thermometer, weighing machine, medicines, injections, saline bottles, cotton, and ₹5,200 in cash. A case was registered under Sections 318(2), 319(2) BNS, and 15(2) read with 15(3) for medical negligence, as reported by the Deccan Chronicle.

This case highlights the pressing need for stringent regulatory oversight of private clinics and pharmacies to prevent unqualified individuals from endangering public health under the guise of medical care.

Rising Trend of Fake Practitioners in Telangana

Medical Dialogues recently reported that Telangana State Medical Council (TSMC) conducted raids across multiple locations in the state, resulting in the arrest of 18 quacks practicing allopathy illegally. These unregistered individuals were found prescribing medicines and administering antibiotics, steroids, and pain-relieving injections without any medical degree, registration, or proper knowledge of allopathy.
