Two Years of Fraudulent Practice
Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district arrested a man for allegedly posing as a radiologist at a private ultrasound centre for over two years using a fake medical degree he reportedly purchased for more than ₹50 lakh.

Fake Degree Exposed During Verification
The scam came to light in May when the accused’s degree was sent for verification to a university in Madhya Pradesh. Authorities discovered he was not registered with the Madhya Pradesh Medical Council, and the degree itself was counterfeit.

Staff Suspicions Spark Investigation
Doubts about the accused’s credentials arose during the ultrasound centre’s registration renewal process. A separate complaint lodged on August 4 further prompted scrutiny. The Chief Medical Officer’s (CMO) office, led by Dr. Surendra Singh, confirmed the fraud before handing the case to the police.

Serious Risks to Patients
The accused allegedly conducted thousands of ultrasound tests without any valid qualifications, potentially endangering numerous patients through misdiagnoses.

Police Book Multiple Charges
He has been booked under BNS sections 318/4 (cheating), 338 (forgery), 336/3 (intent to use a forged document), 340/2 (fraudulent use of a forged document), along with sections 23 and 25 of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.

Not an Isolated Case
In a similar incident reported earlier, a man in Assam’s Sribhumi district posed as an obstetrician and gynaecologist for a decade, assisting in surgeries and handling pregnancies using a forged MBBS degree bought from a black-market racket.
