Accused Posed as MBBS Doctor Without Qualifications

Cachar: In another instance of quackery in Assam, Cachar police have arrested a man for allegedly impersonating an MBBS doctor without possessing any recognised medical qualification or formal training. The accused was reportedly treating patients while falsely presenting himself as a qualified medical professional.

Patients Treated Unknowingly

According to officials, several patients had consulted the accused, unaware that he was not a licensed doctor. Authorities are now investigating whether his treatment endangered patients’ lives and assessing the extent of harm, if any, caused due to his unauthorised medical practice.

Details of the Accused and Location

Police said the accused was practising medicine while claiming to be an MBBS doctor, despite having no valid degree or supporting documents. He is a resident of the Kathal Point area near 2nd Link Road in Cachar district.

Police Case and Ongoing Probe

As per police sources quoted by Barak Bulletin, the case was registered last year under Silchar Police Station Case No. 1110/25. Investigators are currently probing how long the accused had been practising illegally and identifying the number of patients who may have been treated by him.

Rising Concern Over Quackery

The incident adds to a growing list of quackery cases across the country. In a similar case reported earlier, a fake doctor in Chennai was arrested for running an illegal clinic for nearly ten years without a medical degree. Authorities have reiterated the need for public awareness and strict action to curb such illegal medical practices that pose serious risks to public health.
