Deputy CM Orders Strict Action After Video of Woman Carrying Disabled Husband Goes Viral

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has taken strict action against a doctor and two employees after a viral video showed a woman carrying her physically challenged husband on her back due to the unavailability of a wheelchair at the Chief Medical Officer’s (CMO) office in Rae Bareli.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who also holds the health and family welfare portfolio, ordered a probe into the incident.

Investigation Confirms Negligence

A three-member committee, led by Dr Naveen Chandra, investigated the matter and found Dr Ambika Prakash (Deputy CMO and District Disability Board Nodal Officer), Data Entry Operator Anukant Anand, and Class IV employee Anil Kumar guilty of negligence.

Action Taken Against Officials

  • Dr Ambika Prakash was transferred to Jatuatappa Community Health Centre.
  • Anukant Anand was removed from UID work and sent back to his original posting.
  • Anil Kumar was suspended and attached to Belabhala Community Health Centre.

Govt Emphasizes Better Facilities for Disabled Individuals

Deputy CM Pathak stressed that all necessary resources should be available at disability boards to prevent such incidents in the future. He warned that strict action will be taken against any further negligence in providing services to disabled individuals.
