Dehradun: In a landmark development for medical education in Uttarakhand, MediSim VR has launched the state’s first Center of Excellence in AI and VR-based Medical Simulation at the Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS). The initiative marks a major step forward in integrating advanced technologies into healthcare training.
Step Toward NEP 2020 Vision
The Centre aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes experiential and technology-driven learning. It aims to enhance the quality of medical education through immersive, risk-free virtual environments, enabling students to strengthen clinical decision-making and procedural skills.
Launch at SIMULUS 2025
The inauguration took place during the 10th edition of SIMULUS, HIMS’s annual flagship event on healthcare simulation, held from October 4 to 7 in collaboration with AIIMS Rishikesh. The event brought together global leaders, educators, and innovators to discuss advancements in medical simulation and training.
Dr. Vinod K. Paul Inaugurates Centre
The Centre was inaugurated by Dr. Vinod K. Paul, Member, NITI Aayog, who also witnessed live demonstrations of AI- and VR-enabled simulations. Applauding the initiative, Dr. Paul urged for the wider adoption of emerging technologies in healthcare education to improve learning outcomes and clinical preparedness.

The new Center of Excellence will be accessible not only to HIMS students but also to external medical learners and healthcare professionals across Uttarakhand. The initiative aims to foster capacity building and skill development across medical, nursing, and allied health domains.
