UDF Delegation Meets Health Minister Amid Growing Frustration Over Inaction
Jaipur: Thousands of doctors who cleared the 2024 Medical Officer Recruitment Exam, conducted by the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS), are still awaiting document verification and appointment orders—a delay that has triggered widespread concern and agitation within the state’s medical community.
On June 1, a delegation from the United Doctors Front (UDF), Rajasthan, led by State General Secretary Dr. Vikas Milki, met with Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar and RUHS officials to demand immediate steps toward finalizing the recruitment process.
No Timeline, No Communication
The written exam took place on April 27, 2025, and scorecards were released on May 14, 2025, yet no official communication has been provided regarding the next steps, leaving candidates in limbo.
Doctors selected through the examination, many of whom are prepared to serve in remote and underserved areas, have expressed frustration over the administration’s lack of urgency and clarity.
“Administrative Inertia” Hindering Healthcare Access
Expressing concern, Dr. Bharat Pareek, UDF Rajasthan President, told Medical Dialogues,
“This prolonged delay is disheartening and frustrating for thousands of qualified doctors. It reflects a concerning level of administrative inertia and lack of coordination. Timely recruitment is not just an employment issue — it directly affects healthcare delivery, especially in rural and tribal areas.”
He further emphasized that the recruitment delay could severely impact public health infrastructure, especially in areas facing acute shortages of medical staff.
Letter to Health Department Urges Swift Posting
The UDF submitted a formal letter to the Health Department on June 1, urging authorities to immediately initiate document verification and deploy selected doctors to hospitals where manpower shortages persist. They stressed that such action would not only resolve the employment limbo for the candidates but also strengthen healthcare services across the state.
Positive Assurance from Minister
The delegation reported that Health Minister Khimsar gave full attention to their concerns and assured them that the recruitment process would be expedited. However, no official timeline has yet been announced.
Call for Merit List Transparency
In a related demand, UDF had earlier called on RUHS to release the combined merit list of the recruitment exam. While the scorecards have been published, the absence of a merit list showing ranks and roll numbers has created confusion and mistrust among candidates.
The letter, endorsed by senior UDF members, stated that although the examination process was transparent and well-conducted, the merit list’s absence was creating unnecessary doubt about the fairness of recruitment.
UDF to Monitor Progress
UDF leadership stated they would continue to monitor the situation closely and support affected candidates until the recruitment process is concluded in full.
As the BJP-led state government faces mounting pressure to fill critical medical vacancies, all eyes are now on RUHS and the Health Ministry to deliver on their promises and bring much-needed clarity to the aspiring Medical Officers of Rajasthan.
