Puttur: Ashok Kumar Rai, MLA for Puttur, has called on the government to approve the establishment of an Ayush hospital in his constituency, citing significant demand for alternative medicine in the Dakshina Kannada district.

On Thursday, Mr. Rai met with Health and Family Welfare Department Principal Secretary Harsh Gupta in Bengaluru to present a formal request. In his letter, he highlighted that 1.27 acres of government land had already been identified and earmarked for the hospital at Kabaka near Puttur.

The MLA noted that while the government had initially shown interest in setting up an Ayush hospital in Puttur, the plan did not progress due to the lack of available land. He further mentioned that the government now proposes to establish 30-bed Ayush hospitals in both Puttur and Mangaluru (Ullal) constituencies.

Mr. Rai emphasized that despite a strong demand for Ayush systems of medicine across the district, these services remain inaccessible in several areas, including Puttur, Sullia, Belthangady, and Moodbidri.
