Chennai: The Madras High Court has once again dismissed the plea of history-sheeter ‘Bomb’ Saravanan, who sought permission to receive treatment at a private hospital after being shot by the police.
A division bench of Justice MS Ramesh and Justice N Senthilkumar heard the petition filed by Saravanan’s wife, S Mahalakshmi, requesting his transfer to a private multi-specialty hospital for specialized treatment.
However, Additional Public Prosecutor R Muniyapparaj opposed the plea, arguing that a similar request had already been rejected. He stated that prisoners can receive medical care at Stanley Government Hospital, unless a need for special treatment arises. Accepting this argument, the court dismissed the petition.
Police Encounter and Arrest
On January 15, police tracked Saravanan to a godown in MKB Nagar, Vyasarpadi, where he had been hiding. As the police moved in, Saravanan attempted to escape by attacking them with deadly weapons and a country-made bomb.
To counter the attack, Pulianthope inspector fired at Saravanan, hitting his leg and bringing him down. He was immediately taken into custody and admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, later shifting him to Stanley Government Hospital.
Saravanan, a close associate of slain BSP leader K Armstrong, has over 30 criminal cases, including multiple murder charges, registered against him.
