
Faridabad (Haryana), March 24: In a bid to reduce road fatalities, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has signed an MoU with Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, to strengthen emergency response systems.
The collaboration launched the ‘Sar Salamat toh Ghar Salamat’ campaign, aimed at training NHAI ambulance personnel, private ambulance operators, and Haryana Police patrol teams in highway emergency response.
Key Highlights:
🔹 150+ ambulance workers received hands-on training on Monday from Dr. Gaurav Kakkar, Senior Consultant, Neuro-Anaesthesia & Neurocritical Care.
🔹 Training sessions will be held every three months to build a nationwide emergency response workforce.
🔹 A biker’s rally was conducted to spread awareness about road safety.
Government’s Road Safety Mission
India recorded 1.70 lakh road deaths in 4.80 lakh accidents in 2023, with national highways and expressways accounting for 39.2% of cases.
Minister of State, Road Transport & Highways, Ajay Tamta, emphasized the 4E approach—Education, Engineering, Enforcement, and Emergency Care—to halve road fatalities by 2030.
“Emergency preparedness is crucial in trauma response, and trained first responders can save countless lives,” he said.
Swami Vijayamritananda Puri, Amrita Hospital, highlighted that 50% of fatalities could be prevented with timely medical intervention within the golden hour.
This partnership ensures continuous skill-building for emergency responders, making India’s roads safer.
