Incident Overview
A Rural Medical Practitioner (RMP) operating under the name Sai Balaji Hospital in Tungaturthi, Suryapet district, Telangana, has been exposed for conducting illegal sex determination tests and abortions at an unregistered facility. The case came to light after a pregnant woman died following a botched abortion at his clinic.

Investigation and Police Action
The Telangana State Medical Council (TGMC) launched an immediate probe. Officials discovered that the practitioner had been running the facility for several years without proper licensing, posing as a legitimate healthcare provider. Local police are now actively seeking to arrest the quack, while investigations aim to determine the total number of illegal procedures performed.

Background Complaints Ignored
Residents stated that previous complaints had been lodged with the District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO), but no action was taken at the time. Dr. Chandrasekhar, the current DM&HO, assured strict enforcement against RMPs performing illegal abortions, administering injections, or conducting unauthorized surgeries.

Legal Proceedings
A case has been registered against P. Srinivas under applicable provisions of the National Medical Commission Act (NMC).

Context
This incident is part of a wider crackdown on unqualified medical practitioners (UMPs) in Telangana. Over the past year, the TGMC registered over 500 FIRs against quacks operating across the state.

Public Advisory
Authorities urge the public to seek care only from licensed medical practitioners and report any suspected illegal medical practices to local health authorities immediately.
