Chandigarh: In a major move to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, Haryana Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao has announced the procurement of medicines and medical equipment worth approximately ₹120 crore for government hospitals across the state.
Focus on Enhancing Public Health Services
Rao said that the initiative aims to improve the availability of essential medicines and modern medical equipment to ensure quality healthcare delivery in all government-run hospitals. The decision was recently approved by the Special High-Powered Purchase Committee, she informed.
Procurement Drive Across District Hospitals
The procurement plan will cover a wide range of medical needs, benefiting hospitals in multiple districts. “This step will help enhance diagnostic and treatment facilities and enable timely, high-quality care for patients in need,” Rao stated, according to an ANI report.
PPP Model for MRI and CT Scan Services
The Haryana government has also finalised rates for MRI facilities at eight locations and CT scan services at two locations under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode. Additionally, ECG testing services will be available at 604 centres across the state to improve accessibility to diagnostic care.
Major Equipment Purchases Approved
To strengthen infrastructure, the government has approved contracts worth ₹23 crore for the purchase of 67 anaesthesia workstations for civil hospitals. Other procurements include 22 nasal endoscopes (₹2 crore) for ENT patients, 40 TrueNat machines (₹6 crore) for tuberculosis testing, and 15 PathoDetect machines (₹13 crore) for disease diagnosis.
₹75 Crore Allocation for Essential Medicines
To maintain a consistent supply of critical drugs, the Health Department has signed agreements with pharmaceutical companies for the purchase of ₹75 crore worth of medicines. The procurement list includes Anti-Haemophilia EHL Recombinant Factor VIII, Anti RH-O-D injections, IFA syrup, antibiotics, and other life-saving drugs, as recommended by doctors and medical experts.
Ensuring Uninterrupted Medical Supply
Rao assured that all medicines and devices will soon be made available in every government hospital across Haryana. She added that if any additional requirements arise, fresh procurements will be made immediately to prevent shortages.
Government’s Commitment to Accessible Healthcare
“Our goal is to ensure that every citizen of Haryana has access to affordable, accessible, and quality healthcare services so that no one suffers due to lack of treatment,” Rao said. “The government is committed to keeping every resident of the state healthy, safe, and strong.”
