Surendranagar: In a major action against illegal medical practices, the LSOJI police arrested a bogus doctor with only an 8th-grade qualification, who was running an illegal clinic from a residential building in Dhalwana village of Limbdi taluka. Medical items and allopathic medicines worth ₹14,700 were seized from the premises.
Crackdown Following Complaints
The arrest followed multiple complaints about the rising number of fake doctors in rural areas of Surendranagar. Acting on a tip-off during a special patrol, the police raided the clinic in Dhalwana village and uncovered the illegal practice being run by the accused.
Accused Lacked Medical Qualification
Investigations revealed that the accused, a 37-year-old man originally from West Bengal and currently residing in Dhalwana, had no recognized medical degree or certification. Despite only completing his education up to standard 8, he had been illegally operating a hospital-like setup.
Seizure of Medicines and Equipment
During the raid, officials including H.N. Parikh, Medical Officer of Parnala PHC Centre, were present. Authorities seized medicines from different pharmaceutical companies and other medical items valued at ₹14,700. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused for practicing medicine without authorization.
Larger Issue of Quacks in Gujarat
This case adds to a troubling pattern of unqualified individuals running fake clinics across rural Gujarat. In a similar incident, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Ahmedabad Rural Police recently arrested another quack in Saraswatinagar, Changodar, who was a Class 12 pass from West Bengal and found operating an illegal allopathic clinic.
