New Delhi, Oct 2 (PTI): The Delhi High Court has quashed an FIR against Vipin Ahuja, accused of assaulting a doctor in 2019, on the condition that he perform community service for one month at the hospital where the incident occurred.

Court Directions: Justice Ajay Digpaul directed Mr. Ahuja to report every Saturday and Sunday starting September 27 at Dr. Sushma Jindal Hospital in Dilshad Garden. He will serve under the supervision of the doctor he had assaulted.

Certificate Submission: Upon completing the service, Mr. Ahuja must submit a certificate from the hospital confirming his compliance to the court.

Incident Background: The case dates back to July 26, 2019, when Ahuja, while attending to a patient, allegedly assaulted the doctor on duty, created a ruckus, and disrupted hospital operations. An FIR was subsequently registered at Anand Vihar police station.

Amicable Settlement: During the hearing on September 24, both parties informed the court that the matter had been amicably settled. The doctor confirmed that he voluntarily agreed to the compromise and did not wish to pursue the case further.

Court Observations: While quashing the FIR, Justice Digpaul noted that no grievous injury occurred and continuation of criminal proceedings would serve no useful purpose. He also emphasized that assault on medical staff endangers lives and disrupts patient care.

Caution to Accused: The judge warned Mr. Ahuja that any absenteeism, default, or misconduct during the community service could lead to the revival of the FIR.
