BALLIA — Authorities in Uttar Pradesh have arrested a 32-year-old doctor, identified as Dr.  Aditya Singh, following the deaths of 27-year-old Rinku Devi and her twin female newborns. The incident has sparked outrage after it was alleged that the medical staff at a private hospital in Jagdishpur acted with extreme negligence during the delivery.

The Incident and Allegations
According to the police, Rinku Devi was admitted to  Purvanchal Hospital on the hospital road in Jagdishpur after going into labour. Her husband, Sonu Yadav, filed a written complaint alleging that while doctors initially claimed the mother’s condition was fine, the newborns were delivered stillborn. Shortly after, the family was informed that the mother had suffered a heart attack.

The situation turned more grim when the family discovered that the bodies of the twin girls had allegedly been dumped in a dustbin near the hospital toilet, as reported by The Times of India. Protests erupted outside the facility as locals and relatives blocked the district hospital road, demanding immediate accountability.

Police Action and Arrest
Following the complaint filed at the Kotwali police station, an FIR was registered against Dr. Singh under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Investigations revealed that the hospital might have been operating without proper registration.

The accused doctor was taken into custody on March 30, 2026, after briefly being at large. He has since been sent to judicial custody, and the hospital has been sealed by health department officials pending further inquiry. Authorities are also investigating the involvement of other staff members and the owner of the facility.
