Major Recognition for Quality Standards
Healthcare facilities in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar division, once hindered by inaccessibility and Naxal violence, have achieved a milestone with over 130 institutions receiving the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) certification between January 2024 and June 2025. The recognised facilities include one district hospital, 16 primary health centres, and 113 sub-health centres, with 65 more currently undergoing certification.
Infrastructure Boost and Manpower Expansion
Under Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s leadership, the state has invested in infrastructure and ramped up recruitment. In the past 18 months, Bastar has seen the appointment of 33 medical specialists, 117 medical officers, one dental surgeon, 75 state-level staffers, and 307 district-level staffers, with recruitment underway for 291 additional posts.
Ayushman Coverage Reaches Over Half the Population
The Niyad Nellanar scheme has accelerated Ayushman card distribution, issuing 36,231 cards in one year and covering 52.6% of the division’s population. So far, 6,816 beneficiaries have received ₹8.22 crore in medical assistance under the scheme.
Malaria-Free Bastar Initiative
Under the ‘Malaria Mukt Bastar’ campaign, door-to-door screenings, rapid treatments, and awareness drives have reduced malaria transmission. Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal will inspect hospitals and remote villages from August 5–7 to review services and meet local communities.
Reaching the Unreachable
The Chief Minister credited the transformation to the combined efforts of Mitanins (community health workers), medical staff, and health department officials, stressing that healthcare now reaches areas once considered inaccessible.
