New Delhi: Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Shri JP Nadda recently inaugurated the new campus of the School of Advanced Studies at Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana (S-VYASA), a Deemed University in Bengaluru. He also launched DIGI-Vyasa and Vyasa TV during the event.
S-VYASA integrates traditional Indian knowledge systems with modern education and aims to promote holistic wellness and academic excellence. It serves as a hub for Yoga, Naturopathy, and Ayurveda, offering a transformative learning environment by blending education with industry. The new campus focuses on Engineering, Computer Applications, and Management, while also integrating Yoga to foster holistic development.
Addressing the audience, Shri Nadda shared, “Our visionary Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has led a significant policy change to ensure that the health system is holistic and inclusive. The government is working toward integrating the AYUSH system with modern medicine.”
He also highlighted the government’s efforts under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership to establish 22 AIIMS across the country, each with an AYUSH block. The collaborative approach between modern medicine and AYUSH practitioners allows for a seamless referral system, ensuring integrated care for better outcomes.
Shri Nadda also pointed out the Ministry of AYUSH’s global collaborations, with 103 countries and the WHO’s establishment of a Global Traditional Medicine Centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat, which is set to become a hub for traditional medicine studies. Additionally, the government has launched initiatives like the 600-bedded Arogya Dham and the Central Research Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy (CRIYN) in Jhajjar, Haryana, to advance this integration.
The Minister noted that AYUSH is no longer restricted to traditional medicine but is advancing alongside modern science. The efforts of S-VYASA, including the Anvesana Research Centre, which has contributed over 1,000 research papers, are contributing significantly to this integration.
Shri Nadda emphasized the strengthening of AYUSH research, with collaborations between Centres of Excellence and institutions like CSIR, DST, DBT, and ICMR.
