    Governor Inaugurates New AYUSH Facilities

    Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Shri Gulab Chand Kataria inaugurated both healthcare facilities on Tuesday. Speaking at the event, he said the AYUSH Integrated Hospital and the new dispensary would enhance the availability of comprehensive healthcare services for residents of Chandigarh.

    He added that the initiative would promote an integrated approach to treatment by bringing together different systems of medicine within the public healthcare system.

    Integrated Hospital to Offer Multiple Healthcare Services

    The AYUSH Integrated Hospital in Sector 34 provides Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, and Allopathy services on a single campus. The 25-bed hospital will remain operational daily from 8 am to 8 pm.

    According to the administration, patients will receive Ayurvedic, Homoeopathic, and Allopathic medicines free of cost. Besides consultation and treatment, the hospital will also offer Ayurvedic Panchakarma therapy as part of its healthcare services.

    Focus on Preventive Healthcare and Traditional Medicine

    During the inauguration, Shri Kataria encouraged people to incorporate Ayurveda into their daily lives, stating that traditional healthcare practices, combined with healthy lifestyle habits, can contribute to overall well-being.

    He also emphasised the importance of practising yoga and pranayama regularly, describing both as essential components of a healthy lifestyle.

    Long-Pending Demand Fulfilled

    Shri Kataria said the establishment of an AYUSH hospital in Sector 34 had been a long-pending demand of the city.

    With the inauguration of the AYUSH Integrated Hospital and the AYUSH Dispensary in Sector 11, he said the Chandigarh Administration has fulfilled this demand and dedicated both healthcare facilities to the people of Chandigarh.

    The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against the directors and officials of a private hospital in Jodhpur, along with unidentified Railway officials, over the alleged submission of inflated and fabricated medical reimbursement claims that reportedly caused a loss of around ₹1.5 crore to the Indian Railways. The alleged irregularities relate to claims submitted between 2022 and 2024 under a cashless treatment scheme for railway employees.

    Alleged Fraud Linked to Cashless Treatment Scheme

    According to the CBI, the case involves suspected manipulation of medical records, inflated hospital bills, and false reimbursement claims for treatments and medicines that were allegedly never provided.

    The FIR was registered after a preliminary inquiry into complaints received from the Divisional Railway Hospital, Jodhpur. Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the private hospital had been authorised to provide cashless treatment to railway beneficiaries for medical services unavailable at the railway hospital.

    CBI Alleges Manipulated Medical Records

    The investigating agency alleged that patients admitted to general wards were shown as having received treatment in intensive care units (ICUs), enabling the hospital to claim higher reimbursements.

    The CBI further alleged that expensive ICU medicines were billed despite not being administered. Investigators also identified discrepancies in discharge summaries and doctors’ signatures submitted with reimbursement claims.

    According to the agency, the medical records submitted for payment differed significantly from the original bills issued to patients or their relatives, indicating serious irregularities in the reimbursement process.

    Criminal Conspiracy Case Registered

    The investigation has been assigned to a Deputy Superintendent of Police of the CBI.

    The agency stated that the matter has been treated as a case of criminal conspiracy. Accordingly, an FIR has been registered against the director of the private hospital, unidentified public servants from the Divisional Railway Hospital, Jodhpur, and other unidentified private individuals.

    Investigation Continues

    The CBI is continuing its investigation to identify all individuals allegedly involved in the suspected conspiracy and to examine the full extent of the alleged fraud.

    The agency noted that this is not the first investigation involving alleged irregularities linked to railway officials in Jodhpur. In 2017, it arrested a Senior Divisional Medical Officer of the Jodhpur Railway Hospital in an alleged bribery case related to favourable medical certificates. In another case, the CBI registered an FIR against a Railway Office Superintendent and local contractors over an alleged parking and licence fee scam at Raika Bagh Railway Station that reportedly caused a loss of around ₹42 lakh to the Railways.

    Transfers Aim to Improve Specialist Healthcare Access

    The transfer order includes specialists from the departments of Paediatrics, General Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Pathology. The initiative is intended to ensure a more balanced distribution of specialist doctors across districts and improve the availability of quality healthcare services, particularly in underserved areas.

    The Health and Family Welfare Department stated that the transfers have been made in the interest of public service to enhance healthcare delivery across the state.

    Nine Doctors Shifted to New Postings

    As per the order, Dr Ojing Tayeng has been transferred from District Hospital, Yingkiong, to District Hospital, Likhabali, while Dr Inan Lollen has been moved from District Hospital, Boleng, to District Hospital, Basar.

    Dr Martum Jokik has been transferred from District Hospital, Koloriang, to Community Health Centre, Chowkham, and Dr Rita Mena has been shifted from District Hospital, Anini, to Zonal General Hospital, Tezu.

    Dr Tana Jesy Tara has been transferred from Community Health Centre, Doimukh, to Community Health Centre, Sagalee, while Dr Deepa Yudik Taba has been moved from Community Health Centre, Seijosa, to District Hospital, Anini.

    Dr Surat Nabam has been shifted from Community Health Centre, Pake Kessang, to Urban Community Health Centre, Itafort. The order also transfers Dr Nang Neeta from Zonal General Hospital, Aalo, to District Hospital, Namsai, and Dr Kago Aring from General Tadar Zonal General Hospital, Ziro, to Zonal General Hospital, Tezu.

    Department Directs Immediate Compliance

    The Department of Health and Family Welfare has directed all concerned authorities and the transferred doctors to comply with the order immediately to ensure a smooth transition and uninterrupted healthcare services.

    The notification was issued under the signature of Pawan Kumar Sain, IAS, Commissioner, Health and Family Welfare, Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

    Jammu and Kashmir is strengthening its AYUSH healthcare infrastructure with five 50-bed Integrated AYUSH Hospitals approved under the National AYUSH Mission (NAM). While one hospital in Kulgam is already operational, four others are under construction, aiming to improve access to traditional systems of medicine across the Union Territory.

    Kulgam Hospital Operational with Multi-System AYUSH Services

    The information was shared by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.

    According to the Ministry of AYUSH, the fully operational 50-bed Integrated AYUSH Hospital at Kulgam has received financial assistance of Rs 925.56 lakh. The hospital provides Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Unani, Yoga, and Naturopathy services under one roof, enabling patients to access multiple traditional healthcare systems at a single facility.

    Four More 50-Bed AYUSH Hospitals Under Construction

    In addition to Kulgam, four 50-bed Integrated AYUSH Hospitals are under construction at Kishtwar, Kupwara, Billawar (Kathua), and Samba.

    The approved financial assistance includes Rs 5 crore for Kishtwar, Rs 729.39 lakh for Kupwara, Rs 735.21 lakh for Billawar, and Rs 667.05 lakh for Samba. These projects are expected to further strengthen AYUSH healthcare services across Jammu and Kashmir.

    Two 10-Bed Integrated AYUSH Hospitals Also Sanctioned

    The Ministry informed Parliament that two 10-bed Integrated AYUSH Hospitals have also been sanctioned in the Union Territory.

    One hospital at Gadigarh, approved at a cost of Rs 1 crore, is yet to begin construction, while another hospital in Kashmir, sanctioned at Rs 125 lakh, is currently under construction.

    National AYUSH Mission Provides Demand-Driven Financial Support

    The Centre clarified that financial assistance for establishing 50-bed, 30-bed, and 10-bed Integrated AYUSH Hospitals is provided to states and Union Territories under the National AYUSH Mission based on their State Annual Action Plans.

    To receive financial support, states are required to submit detailed project reports, land-related documents, and assurances regarding the availability of the required human resources.

    State Governments Decide Hospital Locations

    The Ministry of AYUSH stated that the selection of locations for Integrated AYUSH Hospitals is determined by the respective state governments based on local healthcare needs and proposals submitted to the Centre.

    It further clarified that there is currently no separate national policy for selecting locations based on existing AYUSH infrastructure, research capacity, or regional balance. Funding under the National AYUSH Mission continues to be demand-driven.

    A doctor couple sustained serious injuries after their speeding car crashed into an iron guardrail on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway near Palghar, Maharashtra. The impact caused a section of the highway barrier to pierce through the vehicle, trapping both occupants inside. The woman doctor remains in critical condition and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mumbai.

    Car Pierced by Highway Guardrail

    The accident occurred on Sunday while the couple was travelling from Mumbai towards Gujarat. According to police and eyewitnesses, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and collide with the highway safety barrier.

    The force of the collision drove a 10 to 15-foot-long section of the iron guardrail through the front of the car, with the railing emerging from the rear of the vehicle. The crash left the car extensively damaged and both occupants trapped inside.

    Rescue Operation Launched

    Local residents and highway police rushed to the scene and carried out a rescue operation to extricate the injured couple from the wreckage.

    Both victims were initially shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Owing to the severity of her injuries, the woman doctor was later referred to a private hospital in Mumbai for advanced medical care, where her condition remains critical.

    Police Begin Investigation

    Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.

    Officials are examining the circumstances that led to the crash, including how the vehicle lost control before colliding with the highway safety barrier.

    Recent Highway Accident in Gujarat

    The incident comes just days after another fatal highway accident in Gujarat, in which a 27-year-old woman and her one-year-old son were killed after their car overturned, caught fire, and exploded on the Ahmedabad-Bhavnagar Expressway near Dholera.

    In that incident, the woman’s husband and father-in-law sustained injuries after escaping from the vehicle before it was engulfed in flames. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding that crash as well.

    The medical fraternity in Maharashtra has announced a 24-hour statewide withdrawal of routine medical services after the State Government constituted a committee to facilitate the conditional registration of Bachelor of Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) practitioners holding the Certificate Course in Modern Pharmacology (CCMP) with the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC). Medical organisations have opposed the move, citing concerns over patient safety, medical regulation, and the integrity of modern medical practice.

    Government Forms Panel on CCMP Registration

    The Maharashtra Government has constituted a six-member committee through a Government Resolution issued by the Medical Education and Drugs Department on August 3, 2026. The panel has been tasked with defining the competencies, ethical framework, and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for handling negligence cases involving CCMP-qualified BHMS practitioners registered with the Maharashtra Medical Council.

    The decision follows a meeting chaired by the Minister for Medical Education on July 28, 2026, where it was decided that the process of conditional registration of BHMS-CCMP doctors would continue while a dedicated committee examines the legal, ethical, and professional aspects of their registration and practice.

    Committee to Frame Guidelines on Practice and Ethics

    The committee will be chaired by the Commissioner of Medical Education and Research, Mumbai. Its members include representatives from the Directorate of Medical Education and Research, the Directorate of AYUSH, the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), the Maharashtra Council of Homoeopathy, and the Maharashtra Medical Council, with the MMC Registrar serving as Member Secretary.

    According to the Government Resolution, the committee will define the competencies of CCMP-qualified doctors in line with the prescribed curriculum, prepare an SOP for negligence complaints, develop an ethical framework, and make recommendations on issues such as maintaining a separate register within the MMC and the ineligibility of these practitioners to participate in Council elections.

    The panel has been directed to submit its report to the State Government within one month, after which further decisions will be taken.

    Background of the CCMP Registration Dispute

    The CCMP course was introduced under the Government Resolution dated March 13, 2014, and conducted through the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik. It was designed to train eligible homeopathic practitioners in modern pharmacology for public healthcare services.

    Subsequent amendments to the Maharashtra Homoeopathic Practitioners Act and the Maharashtra Medical Council Act, 1965, provided for maintaining a separate register in the Maharashtra Medical Council for eligible CCMP-qualified practitioners. The Bombay High Court, in its order dated September 17, 2025, permitted registration of CCMP-qualified candidates subject to the final outcome of Writ Petition Nos. 7846/2014 and 7847/2014. Based on this, the Government directed the Maharashtra Medical Council to proceed with conditional registration pending the court’s final decision.

    Medical Organisations Oppose Government Move

    The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Maharashtra State, supported by the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD), the Association of State Medical Interns, and several other medical organisations, has strongly opposed the Government’s decision.

    The organisations contend that registering CCMP-qualified BHMS practitioners with the Maharashtra Medical Council could compromise the scientific foundation of modern medicine, blur statutory boundaries between recognised systems of medicine, and adversely affect patient safety.

    They stated that repeated representations, letters, and discussions with the Government had failed to address their concerns, leaving them with no option but to launch a peaceful protest.

    Central MARD Announces Statewide Protest

    Central MARD has announced a statewide withdrawal of routine medical services from August 5, 2026. Emergency, casualty, and all life-saving services will continue during the initial 24-hour protest to ensure uninterrupted patient care.

    The association has urged the Government to immediately halt the proposed MMC registration of CCMP-certified BHMS practitioners until the Bombay High Court delivers its final verdict. It has also requested an urgent meeting with the Government and called for the resolution of long-pending issues affecting resident doctors, including stipends, service conditions, workplace safety, and academic welfare.

    The leadership stated, “As a responsible body committed to safeguarding the interests of junior doctors while maintaining constructive dialogue, APJUDA has decided to temporarily postpone the strike for one week following assurances from the DME. However, under no circumstances should this deferment be viewed as a dilution of our resolve.”

    Future Course to Depend on Outcome of Talks

    The association said it will closely monitor the progress of discussions with the health authorities during the one-week period before deciding its next course of action.

    APJUDA also stated that any future decisions would be communicated only through official statements. It thanked junior doctors across government medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh for their support and urged members to remain vigilant and rely solely on authorised communication channels.

    A 20-year-old woman has been booked by the Medical College police after a six-month-old foetus was allegedly flushed down a toilet at the Sree Avittom Thirunal (SAT) Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram late Sunday. The incident is under investigation, and authorities are awaiting the findings of a medico-legal examination to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the case.

    Incident Reported at SAT Hospital

    According to the investigation, the woman, a native of Thiruvallam, was around six months pregnant when she arrived at the hospital after allegedly consuming abortion pills. On reaching the hospital, she reportedly sought a medical termination of pregnancy.

    Soon afterwards, she allegedly developed excessive bleeding and sought medical attention. During the initial examination, doctors suspected that she was pregnant. Police said subsequent inquiries revealed that the woman was unmarried.

    Police Investigation Underway

    Investigators alleged that the woman later entered a restroom in the hospital, where she delivered the foetus. She then reportedly placed the foetus in the toilet and flushed it.

    The incident came to light after hospital staff noticed blood stains on the woman’s clothes when she emerged from the restroom. When questioned, she allegedly informed them that the child had been aborted. The hospital authorities subsequently alerted the police, who initiated an investigation.

    Medico-Legal Examination Ordered

    Fire and Rescue Services personnel dismantled the toilet system and opened the septic tank to recover the foetus. The recovered remains have been sent for a medico-legal examination.

    Officials said the examination will determine the exact cause of death and establish whether the foetus was born alive or was stillborn. The findings will play a key role in determining the course of further legal proceedings.

    Further Legal Action to Depend on Investigation

    Police also suspect that three men who had allegedly accompanied the woman to the hospital left the premises after the incident came to light.

    Authorities said further legal action will depend on the outcome of the ongoing investigation and the medico-legal report.

    Chief Minister interacts with patients, reviews cleanliness, medicine availability and directs officials to improve healthcare services without delay

    New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday visited Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital in Mayur Vihar Phase-II to review healthcare services, inspect hospital facilities and interact directly with patients and their attendants.

    During the visit, the Chief Minister sought feedback from patients and their families regarding the quality of medical services, hospital facilities and overall patient experience. She said that direct interaction with citizens helps the government understand ground-level issues and improve the public healthcare system.

    Rekha Gupta emphasised that public participation is essential for building an effective and responsive healthcare framework. She stated that the concerns, suggestions and expectations of patients should remain at the centre of efforts to strengthen healthcare services across Delhi.

    As part of the inspection, the Chief Minister reviewed cleanliness standards, the availability of essential medicines and the overall quality of healthcare services. She also assessed patient facilities and interacted with hospital staff to understand operational challenges affecting service delivery.

    She directed the concerned officials to implement necessary improvements without delay and stressed the importance of addressing shortcomings promptly to enhance the experience of patients visiting government hospitals.

    Reiterating the Delhi government’s commitment to quality healthcare, Rekha Gupta said that the trust and confidence of every patient are of utmost importance. She assured that the government remains focused on providing timely, dignified and accessible healthcare services to all residents of the national capital.

    The hospital visit forms part of the Delhi government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public healthcare infrastructure through regular inspections, continuous monitoring of service delivery and direct engagement with citizens.
