Gujarat’s Medical Community Celebrates Excellence
Ahmedabad: The two-day national conference IMA NATCON 2025, organised by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Ahmedabad, concluded on Sunday with a special felicitation of 100 senior doctors aged 75 and above from across Gujarat. The event celebrated their lifelong contributions to healthcare and medical education in the state.
Comprehensive Medical Sessions Held
The conference featured multiple sessions covering pressing health issues, including vector-borne diseases, diabetes, obesity, cardiac conditions, and respiratory illnesses. Additionally, topics such as hospital certification and the growing startup ecosystem in healthcare were discussed, highlighting both traditional and modern facets of medicine.
Record Participation and Research Contributions
Dr Mehul Shah, president of IMA Gujarat, stated that the 100th NATCON marked a milestone with over 5,000 doctors participating from across India and abroad. The event also saw the submission of more than 500 medical paper abstracts and presentations, reflecting a rich exchange of knowledge and research in the medical community.
Special Health Book Launched
In line with the conference theme, a book was launched containing detailed articles by 100 eminent doctors. The publication provides guidance on overall citizen well-being and easy-to-follow steps for maintaining good health, serving as a valuable resource for both medical professionals and the public.
Dignitaries Graced the Occasion
The event was attended by several notable dignitaries, including Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah and Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Bhupendra Patel, underscoring the importance of healthcare initiatives at both state and national levels.
Keynote Addresses Highlight Advanced Practices
The first day featured keynote speeches by renowned doctors such as Dr Ramakant Panda, Dr B Bhaskara Rao, Dr Shashank Joshi, Dr Rakesh Shah, and Dr Aseem Shukla. They spoke on advanced medical practices, evidence-based approaches, and the integration of cutting-edge technology into patient care.
Focus on AI, Technology, and Lifelong Learning
Organisers emphasised merging “cutting-edge technology with age-old wisdom.” The role of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI-ML) in revolutionising healthcare was highlighted, with a call for doctors to continuously update themselves on emerging technologies while maintaining professional ethics.
Opportunities for Indian Medical Students Abroad
In a related development, the IMA is set to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI). Over 900 Indian medical students will gain opportunities to work with US-based medical facilities, promoting education, research collaboration, and global exposure for future healthcare professionals.
