Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak directs officials to remove misleading boards and strengthen trauma, cancer care infrastructure across Uttar Pradesh

The Uttar Pradesh government has directed officials to issue notices to private hospitals that are displaying ‘Trauma Centre’ signboards without meeting the prescribed standards required for trauma care facilities. The move is aimed at preventing hospitals from misleading patients and ensuring transparency in emergency healthcare services across the state.

The directive was issued by Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak during an official review meeting held on Friday. He instructed municipal corporations to take immediate action to remove such unauthorized signboards from private healthcare institutions.

Government Orders Removal of Misleading Hospital Boards

During the meeting, Pathak stated that several private hospitals located near government medical facilities place ‘Trauma Centre’ boards to attract patients and their attendants, despite lacking proper trauma care infrastructure.

He instructed civic authorities to identify such hospitals and remove misleading signboards to protect patients from confusion during medical emergencies.

Pathak emphasized that trauma and emergency services are a critical component of the healthcare system and that ensuring proper standards in these facilities is necessary for patient safety and quality treatment.

UP Government Plans Major Expansion in Cancer Care Facilities

The Deputy Chief Minister also highlighted the state government’s broader healthcare initiatives, including efforts to make Uttar Pradesh cancer-free through early detection and improved treatment facilities.

He said the foundation of a strong state and a developed nation depends on healthy citizens, adding that the government is making comprehensive efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure.

As part of the Uttar Pradesh State Cancer Mission, the government is planning to establish 100-bed cancer hospitals in all 75 districts of the state. Officials also discussed launching a large-scale awareness and screening campaign for early cancer detection.

Meeting Focused on Trauma and Surgical Services Empowerment

The review meeting was organised to strengthen three major healthcare initiatives:

  • Uttar Pradesh State Cancer Mission
  • Uttar Pradesh Surgical Services Empowerment Mission
  • Uttar Pradesh Trauma and Emergency Network

Pathak noted that surgical services form an extremely important aspect of the medical sector and that the proposed reforms would significantly benefit patients across the state.

The meeting was attended by State Minister Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (Medical and Health) Amit Kumar Ghosh, along with senior health department officials and doctors.

Karnataka Also Upgrading Trauma Care Infrastructure

In a similar development, the Karnataka government recently approved a long-pending proposal to upgrade trauma care centres in two district hospitals and nine taluk hospitals. The move is expected to significantly improve emergency healthcare services in the state’s twin districts.

The latest action by the Uttar Pradesh government reflects growing focus on improving trauma response systems, regulating healthcare claims, and strengthening public trust in emergency medical services.
