Noida Becoming a Key Center for Global Healthcare Services
Lucknow/Gautam Budh Nagar: Uttar Pradesh is rapidly transforming into a medical tourism hub, with Noida playing a crucial role, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said while inaugurating ‘Sharda Care-Health City’ in Gautam Budh Nagar.
“Medical tourism is a booming sector, and India is leading the way. Gautam Budh Nagar is home to several top corporate hospitals and is now attracting international patients,” the CM stated in his address.
Rise of Healthcare Infrastructure in UP
Recalling the COVID-19 pandemic, Yogi Adityanath noted that when Delhi’s healthcare system was overwhelmed, patients sought treatment in Meerut, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, and Shamli. He emphasized that the private sector plays a vital role in the state’s medical advancements and praised the infrastructure at Sharda Health City.
Highlighting the growth of the health sector in the last decade, the CM stated:
- While only six AIIMS were established in India over 70 years, the country added 22 new AIIMS in the past decade under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership.
- In UP, the number of medical colleges has surged:
- From 12 colleges in 2017 to 40 new government medical colleges in the past eight years.
- 37 new private medical colleges have also been set up.
- Three new colleges (in Maharajganj, Sambhal, and Shamli) have been built under the PPP model.
- Future expansion plans include medical colleges in Ballia and Balrampur, with budget allocations already made.
Improved Medical Services and Ayushman Bharat Initiatives
The CM highlighted that UP now has:
- Two AIIMS (Gorakhpur and Raebareli) and BHU’s Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS).
- Free dialysis, CT scan, and MRI facilities in every district.
- Increased availability of doctors and technical staff in rural areas.
- Chief Minister Arogya Melas held every Sunday at primary health centers to educate people about health schemes.
CM Yogi also stated that UP has issued the highest number of Ayushman Bharat Golden Cards in India, ensuring medical access for millions.
