Revolutionary tech aims to redefine emergency care through real-time diagnostics and faster intervention

Thane:
In a pioneering move set to transform emergency medical response, KIMS Hospitals, Thane, in collaboration with Medulance, has launched Maharashtra’s first AI-integrated 5G Smart Ambulance—a state-of-the-art mobile care unit equipped with real-time patient monitoring and next-gen connectivity.

Unveiled during a press briefing and live demo at KIMS Hospitals, the ambulance showcased its ability to transmit live vital stats—including ECG, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation—directly to the hospital’s Emergency Room (ER) while the patient is in transit. This capability ensures that critical care teams are ready to act the moment the patient arrives.

Unlike standard 5G ambulances, this AI-enabled system continuously analyses the patient’s vitals and helps guide emergency doctors to begin early intervention protocols, potentially saving crucial minutes during life-threatening situations.

“The golden hour can be the difference between life and death in trauma, cardiac arrest, or stroke cases,” said Dr Ankit Biyani, HOD of Emergency Medicine at KIMS Hospitals, as quoted by UNI. “Our AI-integrated 5G Smart Ambulance enables pre-hospital clinical decisions, redefining timely emergency intervention.”

Merging Speed with Intelligence

Saurabh Gupta, Regional COO at KIMS Hospitals, emphasized the larger goal of the initiative:

“This launch goes beyond tech innovation—it embodies our patient-first approach. By combining AI with 5G, we’re set to drastically reduce response times and elevate emergency care standards across Thane and Maharashtra,” he told UNI.

This is not Medulance’s first such collaboration. Artemis Hospitals, Gurugram, had earlier partnered with the healthcare startup to introduce 5G-enabled ambulances, focusing on AI-driven diagnostics and real-time telemedicine.

The KIMS-Medulance smart ambulance initiative marks a significant leap forward in pre-hospital care, blending cutting-edge connectivity with AI to streamline diagnosis, decision-making, and patient stabilization before arrival—setting a new benchmark in emergency response systems in India.
