New Delhi: The Union Minister of State for Health, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, informed the Lok Sabha that as of November 24, 2024, a total of 31,64,73,391 teleconsultations have been completed through the eSanjeevani platform. The platform is currently serving approximately 4,50,000 patients per day.
This service is a part of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, which aims to improve healthcare access, especially in rural and underserved areas. The eSanjeevani platform, developed in collaboration with CDAC Mohali, has two key variants:
- eSanjeevani AB-HWC (Ayushman Arogya Mandir) – A provider-to-provider telemedicine platform, launched in 2019.
- eSanjeevani OPD – A patient-to-provider telemedicine platform, launched in 2020.
As of the latest data, the service is operational in over 1,29,654 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and 16,510 hubs across various States and Union Territories. More than 2,26,376 doctors and paramedics have been trained to operate the platform.
In terms of funding, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has allocated Rs 7528.93 lakhs for telemedicine services, out of which Rs 7238.61 lakhs has already been utilized. The eSanjeevani platform is a significant step toward achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and improving digital health equity, enabling citizens to access healthcare services directly through their smartphones.
