Mumbai: Police have registered a case against 10 to 15 CISF personnel for allegedly assaulting a doctor, his brother, and another individual during a road rage incident in Navi Mumbai’s Kharghar area, officials said on Monday.
The incident occurred at 10:15 PM on November 29. The accused Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel were traveling in buses from Mumbai airport to their quarters in Navi Mumbai’s Kharghar locality when the altercation took place.
According to an official, a speeding bus carrying CISF personnel nearly collided with a car near Utsav Chowk and Central Park in Kharghar. The car’s owner, a doctor and a local political party functionary, pursued the bus and asked the driver to stop, raising concerns about rash driving.
An argument ensued, during which five to six CISF personnel allegedly stepped out of the bus, confronted the doctor, and assaulted him. They also reportedly attacked the doctor’s brother and friend and damaged the car’s windshield.
The doctor later filed a complaint at the Kharghar police station, claiming that some of the CISF personnel involved in the incident appeared to be under the influence of alcohol but fled the scene after the attack.
Police have registered a case against the CISF personnel under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for rioting and assault. Notices have been issued to the accused, and an investigation is underway, officials added.
