Resident Doctors Seek Uniformity in Admission Process
Jaipur: Rajasthan resident doctors are demanding that the Senior Resident (SR) counselling process be conducted based on NEET PG scores rather than MS/MD scores. Several medical associations, including the Jaipur Association of Resident Doctors (JARD) and the United Doctors Front (UDF Rajasthan), recently met with the Secretary of the Medical Education Department to press their demands for Senior Resident Counselling 2025.
Opposition to MS/MD-Based Counselling
The issue arose after the government issued an order to use MS/MD scores for SR counselling for the 2021 batch. Resident doctors have opposed this decision, calling for the rule to be revoked and NEET PG 2021 scores to be used instead, citing fairness and transparency.
NEET PG: A Fair and Objective Metric
Doctors argue that NEET PG is a standardized national-level entrance exam, ensuring a fair and objective evaluation of merit. Unlike MD/MS exams, which involve subjective assessments, NEET PG is based on MCQs, minimizing human intervention and bias.
Additionally, Rajasthan has been using NEET PG scores for SR counselling since 2021, making it an established and accepted practice.
Concerns Over Sudden Policy Change
The associations have strongly opposed the abrupt shift to MD/MS scores, calling it arbitrary, unfair, and unethical. Candidates who appeared for NEET PG 2021 did so with the expectation that their scores would be used for SR counselling, as per the existing process.
Resident Doctors Await Government Response
The doctors continue to urge the government to restore the NEET PG-based counselling system, emphasizing the need for a uniform and just admission process.
