Court Rejects Bail Plea of BJP Leader and Husband

Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): The Gwalior High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of BJP district vice president Dr. Manu Sharma and her husband, BMO Dr. Rajesh Sharma, who are accused in a case involving rape and illegal abortion of a nursing student from Morena.

Seriousness of Charges Cited

Special Judge Vivek Agarwal denied their bail request, citing the grave nature of the allegations against them.

Victim Alleges Sexual Assault and Blackmail

The case stems from a March 23 complaint filed at Hazira police station, Gwalior, by a woman from Uttar Pradesh. She accused Pushpendra Rawat of raping and blackmailing her with explicit videos. She further alleged that when she became pregnant, Pushpendra’s family forced her to undergo an illegal abortion at KD Hospital, where Dr. Manu Sharma and Dr. Rajesh Sharma performed the procedure against her will.

Multiple Accused on the Run

The police have registered a case against Pushpendra’s sister, Reena, and brother, Arvind Rawat, along with BJP leader Dr. Manu Sharma and her husband. All accused are currently absconding, and a manhunt is underway.
