
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will officially partner with the Central government to implement the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) on January 13, 2025.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, at 2 PM. The event will witness the presence of Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Health Minister JP Nadda, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram.
Key Features of PM-JAY
- Health Coverage: ₹5 lakh per family annually for secondary and tertiary care.
- Cashless Treatment: Services available at empanelled public and private hospitals across India.
- Eligibility: Covers over 55 crore beneficiaries from economically weaker sections.
- Comprehensive Care: Includes pre- and post-hospitalization costs, such as diagnostics and medicines.
- No Restrictions: Open to all ages, genders, and family sizes; pre-existing conditions covered from day one.
Objective of the MoU
The collaboration aims to extend affordable, high-quality healthcare to Odisha’s population, reducing the financial burden of medical treatments on underprivileged families. This partnership marks a significant step towards improving the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
