Tirunelveli:
A newborn baby was found dead in a toilet at the Government Medical College Hospital on Friday, sparking shock and prompting an immediate police investigation.
According to hospital sources, a staff member noticed suspicious activity by two women near a restroom and discovered a baby dumped in the toilet commode. The hospital administration quickly alerted the police.
Initial inquiries revealed that V. Lara, a 20-year-old unmarried woman from Kadaratheertham, allegedly went into labour while visiting her hospitalized father. She and her mother reportedly rushed to the restroom, where Lara gave birth to a baby girl.
Authorities suspect that Lara and her mother may have deliberately killed the infant shortly after birth. The police have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation into the matter.
Hospital officials are cooperating fully with the authorities, and further legal action will be taken based on the outcome of the probe.
