Nagpur : Panic gripped Hudkeshwar locality after Dr. Archana Anil Rahule (50), an assistant professor in the physiotherapy department at Government Medical College, was found brutally murdered in her home on Saturday night.
Her blood-soaked body, bearing severe head injuries, was discovered in the bedroom of her residence at Ladikar Layout by her husband, Dr. Anil Rahule, who works at a hospital in Raipur. Dr. Anil, who had returned to Nagpur around 9:30 PM, found the main door ajar and a foul smell emanating from inside. On entering, he saw Archana lying in a pool of blood and immediately alerted the neighbors and police.
Initial findings suggest the murder may have taken place 2–3 days earlier, as the body showed signs of decomposition. Police suspect assault with a heavy object, and have registered a case of murder. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
Senior police officials, including DCP Rashmita Rao and Hudkeshwar police station in-charge Dnyaneshwar Bhedodkar, visited the scene. Investigators are examining possible robbery, though nothing definitive has emerged yet.
Police are also scanning call records and questioning neighbors, but no suspicious activity has been reported so far. Known for being reserved and focused on her academic work, Dr. Archana lived alone, while her son is pursuing MBBS in Pune.
The incident has shocked the local community, and multiple angles are being probed in what police are calling a cold-blooded crime.
