Dimapur: Nagaland has inaugurated its first fully digitalised health facility under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) at the District Hospital Dimapur. The launch marks a major step toward establishing an end-to-end digital health ecosystem across the state, integrating patient services with modern health technologies.

A Model for Statewide Digital Healthcare

According to a PTI report, Commissioner and Secretary for Health and Family Welfare, and State Mission Director for ABDM, Anoop Khinchi, said the new facility will serve as a model for the rest of the state. He emphasised that the initiative blends modern infrastructure with digital tools to enhance overall patient care and hospital management.

Scan-and-Share Feature to Transform Patient Experience

Khinchi highlighted ABDM’s scan-and-share feature as a key advancement that will streamline patient consultations. This tool enables patients to instantly share their medical records with doctors, ensuring quicker, safer and more coordinated treatment. The feature is expected to significantly reduce waiting time and improve clinical decision-making.

Integration With ABDM Ecosystem

The initiative seeks to create a secure and seamless digital environment within the hospital by digitising patient registration, health records and service delivery. As part of the integration, the hospital will adopt ABDM’s core components, including the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), the Health Facility Registry (HFR) and the Health Professional Registry (HPR), PTI reported.

Supporting Digital Transformation Across Nagaland

Officials stated that the project’s success at District Hospital Dimapur will guide future expansions of digital health services across Nagaland. The model facility is expected to strengthen accessibility, transparency and efficiency across the state’s healthcare system, benefiting both patients and medical professionals.

Parallel Developments in Health Research

In related developments, Medical Dialogues earlier reported that Nagaland University has opened a cancer research laboratory at its Department of Zoology on the Lumami campus. The launch marks a significant step forward in strengthening scientific research and tackling the rising cancer burden in the region.

Leadership and Vision Behind the Research Facility

The cancer research laboratory was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, who addressed faculty members and students during the event. He highlighted the importance of advancing cancer research and improving scientific capacity within the region.

Personal Resonance With Cancer Research

Prof. Patnaik shared that cancer has personally impacted his family, with the loss of several close relatives to the disease. His remarks underscored the urgency of improving research infrastructure and expanding awareness and early detection efforts to combat cancer in Nagaland.
