Doctor Targeted Near Her Residence

A 31-year-old woman doctor, Dr Asifa Shaikh of Asian Heart Hospital, BKC, was attacked in Powai on September 7 by an allegedly intoxicated man. The accused, identified as Abdulla Juber Khan, tried to assault her with a knife and iron rod.

Midnight Attack and Escape

According to the FIR, Dr Shaikh returned home at 5 am, parked her Audi near Shreenath Medical Shop at Aarey Park, and was walking towards her residence when Khan confronted her with a 1.5ft knife and 3ft iron rod. She managed to escape and later returned with her mother and brother, only to find Khan smashing her car windows.

Panic in the Neighbourhood

Khan brandished the knife and created panic in the locality before fleeing the scene. Police later registered a case under sections 324 and 425 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, provisions of the Arms Act, and relevant sections of the Maharashtra Police Act.

Previous Parking Dispute

Sources revealed that Dr Shaikh had earlier complained against two men who demanded money for parking in the area, a demand she had refused. Police are probing whether the incident is linked to this dispute.
