New Delhi: The Ministry of Ayush organised a press conference in Panaji, Goa, to commemorate the 10th Ayurveda Day and highlight Ayurveda’s growing role in holistic health, ecological balance, and sustainable development. The theme of this year’s celebration is “Ayurveda for People, Ayurveda for Planet.”

AIIA Goa Expands Healthcare Facilities

Addressing the media, Professor (Vaidya) Pradeep Kumar Prajapati, Director of the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa, announced the inauguration of new healthcare facilities including an Integrated Oncology Unit, Central Sterile Supply Department, Linen Processing Unit, and Blood Bank. He said these advancements will strengthen the bridge between Ayurveda and modern medicine.

Ayurveda as a People’s Movement

Prof. Prajapati urged citizens, physicians, researchers, students, and policymakers to actively participate in Ayurveda Day celebrations. Calling it a people’s movement, he stressed the importance of blending Ayurveda’s ancient wisdom with modern research and evidence to position it at the forefront of global healthcare. He added that the observance honours the legacy of Lord Dhanvantari while promoting a sustainable and healthier future.

AIIA Goa’s Role in Education and Research

Prof. (Dr.) Sujata Kadam, Dean of AIIA Goa, noted that Ayurveda Day reflects a decade-long journey of global recognition. Highlighting AIIA Goa’s achievements, she said the 250-bed hospital provides 22 OPD services daily, benefitting over 800 patients including international visitors, and is emerging as a leading hub for education, research, and patient care.

National Celebrations and Participation

Established in 2022, AIIA Goa has been designated the nodal agency for hosting this year’s national Ayurveda Day celebrations. The institute is also promoting Medical Value Travel and Health Tourism in collaboration with the Goa Tourism Department. The press meet was attended by senior Ayush and state officials, including Dr Uttam Desai, Dr Minal Joshi, Shri Sidhartha Jha, and was moderated by Shri Gaurav Sharma from PIB Delhi. It concluded with an interactive session with media representatives.
