NEW DELHI — In a major effort to align traditional Indian medical systems with modern scientific research, the Ministry of Ayush hosted a national commemoration of World Homoeopathy Day 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Centred on the core theme, “Homoeopathy for Sustainable Health,” the convention featured a high-profile, two-day interactive forum. The event brought together leading medical policymakers, clinical researchers, academics, and practitioners from across the country to discuss the future of integrated healthcare delivery.

The national event, which marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann (the founder of homoeopathy), was officially inaugurated by the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Ayush, Shri Prataprao Jadhav. The discussions focused primarily on establishing rigorous clinical validations, synchronizing data structures, and regulating medical ethics within alternative medicine practices.

Global Alignments: Universal Health Coverage and SDG 3

This year’s national agenda marks a deliberate policy shift toward integrating traditional medicine into primary healthcare infrastructure. The Ministry of Ayush explicitly aligned the 2026 theme with global medical priorities, notably Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3), which focuses on Good Health and Well-being.

By framing homoeopathy as a low-cost, sustainable therapeutic alternative, policymakers outlined strategies to reduce patient dependence on conventional over-medication—particularly for chronic lifestyle diseases and functional disorders. The interactive forum highlighted real-world clinical data demonstrating how complementary protocols can manage chronic illnesses safely while keeping patient costs manageable.

The Clinical Infrastructure and Workforce Data

For medical directors and hospital administrators reading this report, the sheer scale of the alternative medicine workforce in India highlights its growing role in public health:

  • The Clinical Workforce: India currently supports one of the largest registered homoeopathic workforces globally, featuring 3.45 lakh registered doctors.
  • Institutional Scale: The domestic infrastructure consists of 8,593 homoeopathy dispensaries and 34 dedicated research centres operating under central jurisdiction.
  • Academic Footprint: The country features 277 homoeopathy educational institutions feeding newly qualified graduates directly into the healthcare stream annually.

Addressing the delegates, Ayush Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha explained that the Central Government is actively strengthening this sprawling ecosystem by upgrading regional clinical infrastructure, deploying unified digital health platforms, and funding targeted scientific trials.

New Regulatory Frameworks and Research Advancements

A central focal point of the convention, organized by the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH), was the presentation of peer-reviewed clinical advancements. The National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH) detailed plans for National Register Synchronization, an upcoming digital database designed to standardize credentials, cross-verify practicing clinicians, and eradicate cross-practice quackery.

Furthermore, regulatory panels held extensive sessions on Professional Ethics and Conduct. They emphasized that all patient interactions, case-taking data, and observational studies must be rigorously documented to withstand scientific scrutiny. Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, Alarmelmangai D, reiterated that the government’s long-term roadmap focuses on building a highly cooperative model. This approach aims to combine traditional knowledge bases with modern, evidence-based diagnostics, ensuring patient safety remains the highest priority across all medical fields.
