Mumbai: In a significant public health initiative, Maharashtra Health Minister Prakash Abitkar announced that the state government will provide free cancer vaccines to girls aged 0-14 years to combat the rising incidence of cancer.

Rising Cancer Cases: Abitkar highlighted that cancer rates are increasing in both urban and rural areas, affecting all age groups, including children. Statewide Vaccination Program: To address this concern, the Maharashtra government has decided to launch a free cancer vaccination initiative for young girls. Government Approval: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has approved the initiative for statewide implementation.

This move is expected to be a major step in cancer prevention, likely focusing on HPV vaccines, which help prevent cervical cancer, a leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women in India.
