Jaipur: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla conducted a detailed inspection of MBS Hospital in Kota on Thursday, reviewing both the new and old building blocks, as well as external arrangements. During his two-hour visit, Birla made several recommendations aimed at enhancing the hospital’s services and infrastructure.
Birla stressed the need to improve emergency services by suggesting the inclusion of neurology and cardiology departments in the emergency wing, which currently only offers medicine, surgery, and orthopaedics. He also expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of an oxygen line in the medicine ICU of the new block and the absence of air conditioning in the waiting area. He directed the hospital administration to address these issues promptly.
In addition to healthcare concerns, Birla emphasized the importance of improving cleanliness within the hospital premises and urged the municipal corporation to ensure regular monitoring. He also recommended that the Kota Development Authority (KDA) develop a plan to utilize underutilized spaces within the hospital complex to optimize available infrastructure.
Discussions also focused on staffing shortages at the hospital, particularly in the new IPD block, where Birla called for immediate action. He proposed renovating the old wards and corridors, expanding the central laboratory, and implementing other essential upgrades to improve hospital operations.
Further, Birla suggested improving guidance for patients at the OPD counter to streamline the hospital’s operations and avoid confusion. He also recommended setting up a dedicated location for stretchers to facilitate emergency responses.
One of the key recommendations from Birla was the installation of an MRI machine at MBS Hospital, noting the current dependency on the medical college for MRI services. He emphasized that having this facility within the hospital would alleviate patient burden and reduce travel time.
With these directives, Birla highlighted the urgent need for improvements to ensure better patient care and enhance the hospital’s overall efficiency.
