Khammam – Ten hospitals in Khammam have had their registrations cancelled after being found guilty of misappropriating funds from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF). The hospitals created fraudulent bills and failed to treat the patients for whom funds were claimed.
The District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO), Kalavathi Bai, confirmed that the hospitals’ registrations were revoked and they would be shut down as per the orders from the Health Director. The decision followed an investigation conducted by the vigilance department along with officials from the medical and health department.
Affected Hospitals in Khammam
The hospitals whose registrations were cancelled include:
- Sri Vinayaka Hospital
- Sri Kara Multi Specialty Hospital
- Sai Multi Specialty Hospital
- Vaishnavi Hospital
- Sujatha Hospital
- Orange Hospital
- New Amrita Hospital
- Megha Shri Hospital
- Dr. JR. Prasad Hospital
- Global Multi-Specialty Hospital
These hospitals were found to have fraudulently claimed CMRF money without providing the medical services to the patients.
Statewide Action
Out of 28 hospitals whose registrations were cancelled across the state, 10 were located in Khammam, marking a significant proportion of the affected facilities in the city. This has raised concerns among the public, who are now urging the government to take stringent action to prevent the management of such erring hospitals from running medical facilities in the future.
Public Concerns
The cancellation of registrations and the closure of these hospitals have sparked widespread outrage among residents, particularly in light of the trust patients place in hospitals for their medical needs. There are growing calls for tighter scrutiny and regulations to ensure that fraudulent practices in the healthcare sector are curbed, and that only genuine healthcare providers are allowed to operate in the region.
