Bengaluru: Dr. Narasimhamurthy, a surgeon at a government hospital in Gudibande, Chikkaballapura district, has been suspended pending inquiry after a video surfaced on June 11 allegedly showing him demanding and accepting bribes from patients for performing surgeries.
The video, aired by a TV news channel, triggered public outrage and prompted swift action from health authorities. Dr. Narasimhamurthy, who had been serving as the in-charge Taluk Health Officer since August 2019, was found prima facie guilty by a fact-finding team constituted by the District Health Officer.
Acting on the team’s findings, the state government suspended him under Rule 10(3) of the Karnataka Civil Services (Classification, Control, and Appeal) Rules, 1957, and initiated a departmental inquiry.
