Step Towards Transforming Public Service Mindset
The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, has established its own Capacity Building Unit (CBU), aligning with the Government of India’s Mission Karmayogi. The initiative follows directives from the Capacity Building Commission (CBC) and the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
Guidance from Health Ministry Expert
Dr. Stuti Verma, Consultant in the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, guided JIPMER in setting up the CBU. She emphasized that Mission Karmayogi aims to shift public service from a rule-based to a role-based approach, promoting efficiency, empathy, and a citizen-centric work culture rooted in Indian values.
Vision for Excellence and ‘Seva Bhav’
JIPMER Director Dr. Vir Singh Negi said the CBU is designed to instill a culture of excellence, continuous learning, and selfless service among employees. The training programs will focus on enhancing professional competence, personal well-being, stress management, and innovative thinking.
Training Master Trainers for Wider Impact
Deputy Director (Administration) S. Rangabashiam, Dean (Karaikal) Dr. Kusa Kumar Shaha, and Associate Dean (Academic) Dr. Madhusudhanan Ponnusamy completed a 5-day Lead Trainer Program in Delhi NCR. They later conducted a 3-day workshop at JIPMER, preparing 32 Master Trainers who will roll out one-day Rashtriya Karmayogi programs across all three campuses.
From ‘Karmachari’ to ‘Karmayogi’
The initiative seeks to transform employees from traditional workers into purpose-driven professionals. Dr. Negi noted that structured implementation will strengthen professionalism, empathy, and accountability, enhancing both service delivery and patient care.
Commitment to Patient-Centered Healthcare
JIPMER’s capacity-building efforts aim to reinforce its long-standing commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centered services, ensuring care that is efficient, sensitive, and holistic.
