A turf dispute has surfaced in Jind between the Health Department and the AYUSH Department over the use of limited space at the Sector-8 polyclinic, highlighting infrastructure constraints and competing priorities in public healthcare delivery.

High-Level Inspection Conducted

The issue escalated on Friday when a senior AYUSH delegation carried out an inspection at the Civil Hospital to assess on-ground arrangements. The team reviewed the functioning of the Panchkarma centre operating from the polyclinic as well as the AYUSH OPD running from a separate building within the hospital campus.

Officials present during the visit included Additional Directors Vijender Hudda and Sushma Nain, along with senior medical officers from Hisar and Jind.

Core Issue: Panchkarma Centre vs Cath Lab

At the heart of the dispute is the Panchkarma centre—an Ayurvedic facility offering detoxification and rejuvenation therapies—which currently operates from rooms under the Health Department’s polyclinic.

The Health Department has proposed vacating these rooms to establish a Cath Lab, a move aimed at boosting cardiac care services and improving access to advanced heart diagnostics and treatment in the district.

AYUSH Department Opposes Relocation

The AYUSH Department has resisted the proposal, citing the lack of adequate alternative space within the Civil Hospital premises. Officials argue that shifting the Panchkarma facility without proper infrastructure would disrupt essential services.

Additional Director Vijender Hudda stated that relocation is not feasible at present due to space constraints. He confirmed that the Panchkarma centre will continue operating from the polyclinic until a suitable alternative is arranged.

Administrative Changes Add to Complexity

The situation has been further complicated by recent duty reallocations made by the Civil Surgeon. Some Panchkarma staff have been reassigned to the Civil Hospital, while others remain at the centre.

This split deployment has reportedly led to attendance issues, coordination gaps, and operational inefficiencies at both locations, impacting overall workflow.

Search for a Solution Underway

Authorities have indicated that efforts are ongoing to identify a viable space for relocating the Panchkarma unit without affecting patient care. However, until a resolution is reached, the standoff between the two departments is expected to continue, reflecting broader challenges in balancing traditional and modern healthcare infrastructure within limited public resources.
