Jabalpur — Authorities in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur sealed a privately-run hospital on Thursday after discovering it was operating without the necessary permissions. The hospital, ‘Sulakhiya Hospital’ located in the Bilhari area, was being managed by Dr. Divyansh Sulakhiya, who holds a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree but was reportedly treating patients with allopathic medicines.
The action follows a state-wide crackdown on unauthorized medical practices triggered by the recent arrest of alleged fake cardiologist Narendra Yadav, accused of performing botched surgeries at a hospital in Damoh that led to seven deaths.
According to Sub Divisional Magistrate (Ranjhi) R.S. Marawi, an inspection team found three patients being treated at the 100-bed Sulakhiya Hospital by the nursing staff. Dr. Sulakhiya failed to present mandatory documents authorizing the hospital’s operation and his qualifications to practice allopathy.
“A case will be registered after verifying the doctor’s qualifications with the concerned institutions,” Marawi said, adding that a district-level team has been formed to inspect hospitals and clinics for valid documentation.
