Doctors taking out a rally in Peddapalli town on Friday, protesting against the alleged attack on a paediatrician at a private hospital.
Hyderabad: Demanding action against a patient’s attender who stabbed a paediatrician in Peddapalli after the death of the child undergoing treatment on Wednesday, members of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) held a dharna on Friday. Around 150 IMA members gathered to show solidarity with Dr K Rajesh, paediatrician at Sree Siddhartha Hospital, Peddapalli, who was attacked, and gave a representation to the SP and district collector.
Dr Vijay Rao Jakkula, secretary general, IMA Telangana said “This attack on Dr Rajesh by a mob of around 200 people and stabbing by an individual is a grave incident that demands serious action. Doctors, like Dr Rajesh, work under immense pressure, often sacrificing their personal lives to provide care and save lives. In this case, the attack was driven by grievances, but no grievance can justify violence. The trust and relationship between doctors and the public must be based on respect and mutual understanding.”
